Labour ducks the issues

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Like something out of an old silent black and white slap-stick movie, Alistair Darling yesterday ducked and the next Chancellor in line will wear the economic punch squarely on the nose. All in the name of what Gordon Brown would call ‘fiscal timing’, that is we can only impose the pain when the recovery is under way. …read more

Poor whites in UK get a rough deal says John Denham

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

In a move possibly designed to head off the BNP, John Denham has stepped up to the plate and stated that as much attention must be given to the poor white working class as is given to ethnic minorities. This from a minister of a party whose history was forged in the factories and union meeting rooms of the British worker. He has gone further by saying that councils and agencies should give poor white communities more priority.

Two weeks ago Alan Johnson had said that Labour had done too little to address Britain’s immigration crisis. This coupled with Denham’s claim will begin to sound alarm bells with the anti-fascists and start a battle on ground that Labour may in the end regret choosing. …read more

House price rises and inheritance tax

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Alistair Darling is facing the probability of freezing inheritance tax to increase tax revenue for the government because of the drops in house prices. But with house prices rising this could mean that more people will have to pay for the mistakes of Labour’s mismanagement of the economy through inheritance tax. …read more

Labour MP calls for tax cuts

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Don’t worry, it’s not anyone of influence within the Labour Party asking for tax cuts. Backbencher Greg Pope, who is standing down at the next election, has said that taking the lowest paid out of the tax bracket altogether and scrapping the ‘soak the rich’ 50% tax would give a real kick-start to the economy.

This he says would have two main benefits. Not only would the economy benefit but the Tories would find themselves wrong-footed just as they are warning the electorate to standby for hard times ahead. …read more

Labour candidate accuses the Queen of being a parasite

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Peter White, who wants to be elected to Havering Borough Council (South Hornchurch) next year, posted an extraordinary attack against the Queen in response to a Facebook article by the Tory MP Andrew Rosindale. Rosindale had called for a national holiday to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne. But White responded by saying “What is the point of celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of someone who is born into a position of privilege? She is a parasite ……….. “ …read more

Labour holds Glasgow North East.

Friday, November 13th, 2009

With turnout down to a record low in Scotland of 33% from the 2005 level of 45%, Willie Bain of Labour still managed to easily hold off the SNP challenge from David Kerr of the SNP. The majority was reduced from 10,000 to 8,111 but this is still far greater than most pundits had predicted. The seat came free because of the resignation of the now Lord Martin of Springburn who had held it from 1979 up until he resigned as Speaker of the House of Commons. …read more

Alan Johnson admits that Labour silence over immigration policy has helped the BNP

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, has openly conceded that by not having a wider debate on immigration they have played into the hands of the BNP.

He has admitted that a full rational debate about the issues surrounding immigration would have gone a long way to discrediting BNP claims and weakening their support. …read more
