This is update three to the baseline prices established on the 4th January 2010 here.
Again I have gone to my local supermarket and petrol station to get an update on the prices of certain goods. The table is displayed below. But, after some criticism about the lack of weighting in my results I have also included a graph that shows the direct prices as opposed to prices weighted in favour of what I would buy and the amounts I would buy. I am not going to publish that criteria as I don’t want people analysing how much hairspray I might use compared to the amount of toilet rolls I dispose of on a weekly basis.
I have increased the use such things as petrol and bread usage whilst decreasing toothpaste and air freshener unit consumption.
Here is the base unit prices versus the weighted prices graph:
This table shows the data for 25th January 2010 against the baseline data at the beginning of the year.
The price fallers are Flora margarine, own brand margarine, own brand coffee, own brand toilet rolls, Kelloggs corn flakes and pork chops.
Price risers are cod fillets, Diesel, petrol, beer (Tanglefoot was not available, withdrawn I think, so I picked a substitute that I would buy, which turned out much more expensive), own brand toothpaste, carrots and apples.
