The law in the UK is an Ass (3)

The third and last (for today) story about the failings of the law concerns a report in the Mail about a businessman who was arrested on the belief he had sent an E-Mail deemed to be offensive to Gypsies.

He was arrested in front of his family by two uniformed officers on Sunday November 15th and had hisown and his wife’s computers confiscated. He was then held in a police cell for four hours until it was established that he had not actually written the E-Mail. He has also had his DNA taken and has been informed it will be held indefinitely even though he is completely innocent.

The E-Mail had been sent concerning a planning appeal by a gypsy who wanted to place a mobile home near the businessman’s house. The criminal act the unnamed businessman was thought to have committed? The E-Mail contained the phrase “It’s the ‘do as you likey’ attitude that I am against”. As it concerned a gypsy and ‘likey’ rhymed with ‘pikey’ it was reported to the police by the council as potentially offensive.

The sender of the E-Mail, Paul Osmond, who worked for the businessman at the time was arrested bailed and then told there would be no further action.

Although there was another near the knuckle remark in the E-Mail, “Get a job, get planning permission but more to the point get out of the neighbourhood.” As there seems to be nothing directly racist or derogatory about a class or group of people here, why the fuss?

But further, why was the businessman locked up in cells? Especially as he has no previous history of wrong-doing. Was he going to go on the run over this? Was he going to be a violent danger to someone? Why has his DNA been retained. This must be counter to all EU law and to all concepts of common-sense policing.

We have burglars going free and mad extremist clerics screaming about killing non-believers and all we get is this type of police state reaction to a spelling mistake.

The law is an Ass in this country. It needs some serious work to rectify what the PC and liberal brigades have done to it over the last few decades. But if you think this will all change under the next political incumbents then think again. In fact I challenge the Tories (supposing they do get in) not to just talk but to do something really concrete about the issues I have raised here and in related articles.

Yes Jeff and what actions can be taken to remedy this?

Hi James, as it’s taken 50-60 years (at least) to get us here it will probably take as long to get back to a common sense society.

Unless that is there is a partial or full breakdown in the current system that allows us to rebuild along more sensible lines.

The start of the process is to trumpet these sillinesses from the roof tops.

The Double Think here is quite staggering really. People have accepted that we need to kow-tow to the ‘responsibility’ of the global warming scam by putting rubbish in different bins in accordance with a law. But happily accept another law that acts against society.

Let’s give the three main parties a wake up call by voting for anyone else we can. Next time then they might actually listen to the voters! I live in (not much) hope that this might happen.

  3. Anyone who thinks that the law is the law just because of public consensus is living in a dream world. The law it seems, is a tool for causing division and anyone who dare question the origins of such rules and laws is subject to a torrent of defamatory remarks alluding to them being ‘conspiracy nut-jobs’.

Some people are happy with the way things are and dare not involve their minds in the greater schemes that they believe have nothing to do with them.

As you know James there is a great work of ages afoot…….I just think the puppet master may well be exactly that and he travels the beaches of Britain with his Punch and Judy show living in a caravan.

By the way I recommend the two series of Carnivale’…..

Actually, the UK Police state is probably not as stupid as you think. Well publicised incidents like this are designed to scare the public and keep them docile.

The inescapable conclusion most people will come to is that , if they can arrest someone for something as trivial as that, what will they do if I really say or do something which could be interpreted as racist.

In a dictatorship such as ours, the authorities don’t mind appearing to be stupid, as long as they are seen to have absolute control.
