Looking for a career in teaching? Attend a 'Train to Teach' roadshow

People across the country who are interested in beginning a fulfilling career in teaching are being encouraged to attend a Train to Teach roadshow over the next two months.

The roadshow, organised by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), is the most comprehensive of its kind. It is an opportunity for those looking to begin a rewarding career, and make a positive impact on young people’s lives, to find out more about what a career in teaching can offer – and how to make their first steps towards achieving their goal.

The events, taking place in locations across the country, include a presentation on the teacher training options available. Visitors will be able to meet representatives from schools and universities that provide teacher training, gain insights into how to make a strong application, and receive one-to-one advice from current teachers and teaching experts.

The events also showcase the financial support available and provide information on the competitive starting salaries, as well as the rewards that teaching has to offer. These include substantial tax-free bursaries and scholarships for top graduates who train to teach core academic subjects.

Roger Pope, Chair of the National College for Teaching and Leadership, said:

Teaching is a fantastic career – it provides a competitive salary, flexibility and excellent opportunities for career progression. The bursaries and scholarships available this year mean more talented graduates will be able to teach the subject they love and inspire young people to fulfil their potential.

“This event isn’t only for new graduates – some of our best teachers entered the profession after pursuing careers in other fields.

“The Train to Teach roadshow is the perfect opportunity for people across the region who are thinking of beginning a teacher training course to find out how to begin their journey.”

The event is also open to qualified teachers who are interested in returning to teaching.

Those interested can find their nearest Train to Teach event by clicking here. Events run regularly around the country between the end of January and mid-March.

You can also register at the venue on the day.
