David Gilmour's son Charlie Gilmour has been charged with Violent disorder and stealing a mannequin's leg during the December 9th student protests in London.
21 year old Charlie, who has been charged by the Metropolitan Police, will attend the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on February the 10th.
Charlie was famously photographed swinging on a Union Jack flag from the Cenotaph during the protests which he apologised for later saying "I would like to express my deepest apologies for the terrible insult to the thousands of people who died bravely for our country that my actions represented."
Charlie's a actions may have caused outrage in his bad choice of emblem from which he swung however when you look at the fact that Tony Blair has caused countless lives to be lost with the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and filled said Cenotaph with blood you ponder that he will probably never face prosecution for his crimes against humanity.
This is an ever present reality which will not go away.
One wonders why a silly kid doing silly things should be singled out for media focus just because his father (I refer to David Gilmour and not his biological father Heathcoat Williams) is one of the most talented men on the planet.
There is a tsunami of very angry young men and women who can see that they are facing financial hardship in order to maintain the status quo for a few corrupt and wealthy individuals.
Charlie may be a bit of a Charlie but he has successfully become a geek like version of Che Guevara so the media's vilification of Charlie whilst displaying him waving the red flag of revolution (in photographs which seem almost staged) may have played into his hands and given him the opportunity for a rallying call to the disaffected youth in the future.
