Christina Aguilera got the words wrong to the American national anthem as she sang it at the Super Bowl in front of 100 million viewers.
The match between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers was opened by the 30 year old singer who should have sang the line "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming" instead of the line "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming." which was sung previously in the song.
In her defence Christina said she was "lost in the moment" and hoped that she had kept the "true spirit" of the song in her performance.
The elephant in the room though is the description of America being the "Land of the free" as America removes civil liberties and rights from it's citizens as a reaction to the orchestrated financial crisis and the ever prevalent terrorist threat personified by the 9/11 attacks which has more holes in the official explanation than a Swiss cheese.
America is not land of the free so let Christina sing whatever she wants, if the rest of the anthem is inaccurate then it matters not what she sang.
This is not the first time that a celebrity has let the anthem of the USA down, does anyone remember Roseanne and the "Barr Mangled Banner"?
