UKIP are hosting an open event aimed at informing the public about the EU and its impact on agriculture in the UK.
'Farming and the EU' is aimed mainly at the farming community in the South West but the main speaker and MEP is coming all the way from the South East of England to attend. Invites have already been made via the NFU.
The featured speakers for the event will be:
• Stuart Agnew MEP, who is also the UKIP spokesman on farming. He is a farmer himself living in Norfolk and has 35,000 free range layers, 500 ewes and 400 acres of arable land. From his website: “Stuart is a member of the European Parliament's Agriculture & Rural Development Committee, where he is often a lone voice in speaking up for British farmers and trying to make the Committee understand the practical effects of their proposals on farmers, in the real world”. He is also a member of the National Farmers Union and was their Norfolk County Chairman in 1998.
• Gawain Towler, the prospective UKIP MEP candidate for the South West.
• Steve Unwin, the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Dorset North Parliamentary Constituency.
The 'Farming and the EU' meeting will be chaired by Cllr John Baxter, Dorset North UKIP Association Chairman and Ferndown Town Councillor.
