Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is certain that the Mahdi is behind the civil unrest and revolution divine awakening in the Middle East.
But the Iranian President's call for the Islamic Messiah known as the Mahdi to return may be a cause of concern for Israel and the United States of America.
Ahmadinejad is part of a radical Islamic sect which believes the return of the Mahdi, who is also known as the 12th Imam, can be accelerated by man's actions and that the destruction of the 'Little Satan' (Israel) and the 'Great Satan' (America) will hasten his return.
In the past he has said "Oh, God, hasten the arrival of Imam Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers,"
This notion is most prevalent in Ahmadinejad's threats against Israel and his continued support for terrorist groups throughout the Middle East.
Muslims believe the Mahdi will unite both Sunnis and Shias together and will be accompanied by Jesus Christ who is called Isa in the Muslim faith.
The Mahdi will only come after a period of chaos, flooding, wars and famine (a far cry from the situation today, yes?).
So where is this Mahdi?
He is down a well in a mosque in the village of Jamkaran which is covered by a green metal box of course, well that's what Shia Muslims believe and he is waiting to return after he disappeared in the 9th century.
So if you see Mahmoud Ahmadinejad staring down the well cheering with a brass band at the other end you will know why.
The 12th Imam is also the direct descendant of the prophet Mohammed but there is great issue taken by this belief by Sunni Muslims who believe the Mahdi is yet to be born and will be descended from Fatima who was the daughter of Mohammed.
However there is growing controversy amongst Christians and theologians over whether or not the Mahdi is the Christian Antichrist.
Both Antichrist and Mahdi will rule for seven years (although many clerics believe that may be 9 years or even nineteen years) yet the Muslim faith clearly states that the Mahdi will fight the Antichrist next to Jesus so there is much interpretation to and division between both sides, but it also points the way to something that Christians are united in fearing.
That fear is that a one world religion would, according to interpretations of the Bible's Book of Revelations, throw up 'the False Prophet' who will rise in the last days.
But it is not only the Iranian President who is aligned with apocalyptic cults.
George Bush thicker Jnr is also said to have been influenced by the notion of trying to hasten the return of Jesus (who he supposedly believes in and worships yet exhibits no signs of Christian morality in any shape or form) whilst instigating the 'war on terriers terrorists' via his destabilising the Middle East by bombing it because a family friend got the blame for destroying the Twin Towers on 9/11.
So it is beginning to look like the leaders of this world are united in at least one thing.
Armageddon …… oh well at least some common ground has been found but it does make you wonder if the entire global economic and political imbalances are deliberate and well structured with a specific outcome.
Nah! That's paranoid and conspiratorial rubbish ……. isn't it?
