A sharp rise in enquiries from Arabic speaking visitors has led Newcastle upon Tyne based Week2Week Serviced Apartments Ltd to develop an online directory of relevant information. Over the coming year the company plans to introduce further directories containing information for other ethnic groups visiting the region for business or leisure.

Week2Week Serviced Apartments director Claire Parry says:

"The serviced apartment concept offers luxury accommodation with all the comforts of home. The primary difference is that at home, you know your home area and town. In a strange city you do not. We have always provided a guide to the north east in our welcome pack but this does not address the needs of an overseas visitor. Since the majority of our visitors are business people they tend to come for fairly long periods so we are trying to provide such services as they would use at home.

"When talking to our Arabic speaking visitors we found they required information on Muslim places of worship, Halal food stores, restaurants and relevant cultural or educational centres. We have worked closely with our local Muslim community to provide up to date, relevant information which we hope will help our visitors enjoy their stay while making new cultural contacts. Over the coming year we plan to extend this service to visitors from other countries beginning with Scandinavia, Japan and China."
