Labour MP calls for tax cuts

Don’t worry, it’s not anyone of influence within the Labour Party asking for tax cuts. Backbencher Greg Pope, who is standing down at the next election, has said that taking the lowest paid out of the tax bracket altogether and scrapping the ‘soak the rich’ 50% tax would give a real kick-start to the economy.

This he says would have two main benefits. Not only would the economy benefit but the Tories would find themselves wrong-footed just as they are warning the electorate to standby for hard times ahead. (more…)
