Smooth Moves Guide to Conveyancing helps buyers save time and money
Unattainable mortgages and escalating administrative costs have been named amongst the top reasons why people elect not to move home. According to new research from Saga Legal Solutions, on top of unprecedentedly high average property prices, buyers are deterred by the combination of Stamp Duty Land Tax and often hefty legal fees. The latter is a common problem even for those aged 45-59 with nearly a quarter (23%) saying additional costs were their biggest concern when moving. The under 30s agreed, with 39% being turned off a move by high administrative costs at a time when it's never been more difficult to get a first foot on the ladder.
Top five reasons for not moving house
1. Love the area
2. Can't afford a bigger mortgage
3. Worried about additional costs
4. Happy with my house the way it is
5. Too much time and effort
The research also found that moving house is one of the top three most stressful events in life with over a third of us believing the big move to be a more hectic experience than planning a wedding, dealing with debt or even having a new born baby. Conveyancing, the process of transferring property ownership titles, is often the most problematic and drawn-out stage of moving. Consequently, Saga Legal is urging people to start looking for their dream home earlier than they think they should. If, as most people do, you want to move during the temperate summer months, April is the best time to start looking.
To help people move with the minimum of fuss, Saga Legal has released a Smooth Moves Guide to Conveyancing which offers expert advice on a process which is often the most problematic part of moving house. With so many players and moving parts to contend with, the Conveyancing phase is often when a big move comes unstuck. The guide offers expert advice on how to choose a Conveyancer, how to ensure the process runs smoothly and find the right deal for you.

"Most of us crave a summer move when the weather is, typically, the most dependable but this means starting the process much earlier than some realise. Without the right support, moving house – particularly Conveyancing – can be stressful, but doesn't have to be if you prepare properly and choose the right Conveyancer. Our Smooth Moves Guide is designed to help movers young and old move into the property of their dreams with the minimum of aggravation."
