Daily Brexit Update: Saturday 28th July 2018
The EU is considering giving the UK special uninterrupted access to the Galileo satellite encrypted feed, reports the Guardian.
"The EU's chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, is mulling an offer on the satellite project that would put the UK on better terms than other third-party countries over use of the encrypted service, according to diplomatic sources." Says the report.
Now, let's look at this. The UK provides the in-depth technical expertise as well as a couple of the absolutely crucial land sites that would make Galileo truly global so we threaten to pull out completely and do our own thing – result is, that it looks like the EU will cave.
Lesson learned one would think! Now where else can we apply that logic to the brexit negotiations?
The EU parliament, we are told, will not move on any Brexit deal. "Yesterday in Brussels, the 'Brexit Steering Group' (BSG) of the EU Parliament reiterated its uncompromising demands in respect of any potential Withdrawal Agreement with the UK. " Says facts4eu.org.
If the European Parliament votes against the Withdrawal Agreement then it's dead. We return to square one. UKIP/EFDD MEPs were refused a seat on the Brexit Steering Committee. It was fixed from the start. No 'Agreement' means just leaving. https://t.co/X7s9ZpJt64

Don't you just hate this talk of 'crashing out' of the EU. As Roger Helmer points out, leaving without a deal just means trading on WTO terms! Also, to be more accurate, it will actually be the wealthier EU nations, like Germany, crashing out of the UK internal market that they rely so much on!

The Independent reports that it's petition for another EU referendum has been signed by over 300,000 people (wonder how many are real UK voters) in three days. But I just would say that I remember a survey that got 17.4 million Leave votes in one single day!
And marina Hyde in the Guardian says of a photo of the Brexit Secretary "Dominic Raab: the face that says, 'I need to take back control of my sphincter'."
Labour Party Brexiteer and MP for Vauxhall, Kate Hoey, is facing the possibility of a constituency vote of no confidence because she won't oppose a hard Brexit.
Not Brexit related exactly, but Fox News is reporting that the UN is running out of money and has sent out letters asking nation states to pay their dues on time. But where it is Brexit related is that this could soon be the EU once it no longer has a key to our Treasury vaults!
And finally, Channel 4 asks: Are businesses more afraid of a Jeremy Corbyn Labour Party Government than Brexit? (Video.)
